हिमाचल प्रदेश की उत्तरी सीमा जम्मू-कश्मीर राज्य से लगती है जबकि पश्चिमी सीमा पंजाब से लगती है। इसके दक्षिण पश्चिम में हरियाणा तथा दक्षिण पूर्व में उत्तराखंड है। पूर्व में हिमाचल की सीमा तिब्बत से लगती है।
